Starting outfielder for Woodland High School, Nathan Bernard loves taking the field and representing his school on the diamond.
“My favorite part is the adrenaline rush when I get the chance to make a play,” said Bernard.
Bernard can cover a lot of ground as an outfielder, which is probably why his speed is also welcomed on the football team. But as a baseball player, Bernard has spent six years honing his craft. He enjoys being around his teammates and the fun they have competing against opponents.
“What I enjoy the most is just the friendship and good times,” said Bernard.
But baseball and football are not the only things Bernard is focused on in school. Making good grades and continually improving in the classroom is another area Bernard has worked hard in this year.
“Academics are very important to me, I’m a lot better academically than athletically,” said Bernard. “Math is by far my favorite subject and Mrs. Cox my favorite teacher.”
His coaches have influenced him as well in and out of sports.
“Both coach Goad and coach Potts are very big influences on my athletic abilities, work ethic and character as a person,” said Bernard.
Once school has ended, Bernard is considering the joining the service to help pay for college.
“I’m considering the Air Force and hopefully I can get a degree from them,” said Bernard.
