Perkins’ Teagan Shepard – Character Counts Presented By Central Electric Cooperative
- Updated: April 5, 2020
The Perkins Character Counts Honor goes to junior Teagan Shepard, a baseball and football player for the Demons. In baseball Shepard plays some third base, center field and pitches. He also bats in the clean-up spot for Perkins. “I really just try to go middle away,” said Shepard. “Coach always tells me to hit it off the scoreboard in right center, most of the time it leads to line drives or hard hit balls even if I pull it, just really keeps me from over swinging.”
When he’s on the mound Shepard throws a fastball, curve ball and change-up. He says his approach is all about the fundamentals. “Really just try to keep my mechanics the same and just try to finish down and through, just being smooth and not choppy,” said Shepard.
Besides baseball, Shepard had a big season on the gridiron playing linebacker and tight end for Perkins. He recorded 80 tackles, an interception, 3 forced fumbles, returned a fumble for a touchdown and 5 touchdown receptions.
Shepard gets it done in the classroom as well with a 3.82 GPA and is a member of the National Honor Society. He also shows pigs and had a Champion Chester at the Oklahoma Youth Expo in 2017.
