The Blackwell Spotlight is shining on Ramon Dominguez, a senior basketball player for the Maroons. Dominguez is the starting center and has helped guide Blackwell to a 14-9 record so far this season. “My role is to get rebounds and get put backs on the offensive end,” said Dominguez, “I’m also a leader, I like to push my teammates as much as I can so that we can get further into the playoffs, I help the freshman big guys out with post moves, show them they need to practice hard, because practicing hard can help them get where they want to be in the playoffs.”
Dominguez says he’s proud of the work that his team has put in this season. “We have played our hardest and done our best during the regular season. We really did the best for our program and because of that we put ourselves in a good position for the playoffs,” said Dominguez.
As his senior season winds down, Ramon also noted what he’ll miss about playing at Blackwell. “I’ll remember the fun times and hard work during practice,” said Dominguez, “and also just the bonding that I got to experience with my senior class.”
Outside of basketball Dominguez played football for the first time as a senior and staring spots at both left tackle and defensive end. In school he has a 3.5 GPA and plans on attending college to become an electrical engineer after graduation.
