Stillwater’s Carter Keith – Academic Athlete of the Month Presented By BancFirst Stillwater
- Updated: April 4, 2020
The Stillwater Academic Athlete of the month is Carter Keith, a senior soccer player for the Pioneers. Keith is the starting center back for Stillwater and is also a team captain. “My role on the field is I get all the through balls, distribute the ball from back line to center field or even the forwards and lock down people defensively,” said Keith.
As a team captain Keith also knows he’s expected to be a leader. “It’s all about setting a good example,” said Keith, “having good energy. Just showing the right movements on and off the field and also keeping guys in check just making sure they are giving their all.”
Last season Stillwater missed the playoffs by one game, but Keith says that serves as motivation for this season. “The main goal is to make it to the playoffs this season, we lost some talent from last season, but I think we have a chance to move the ball and play together as a team and hopefully make it back to the playoffs,” said Keith.
Carter is a standout in the classroom with a 4.0 GPA. He is currently in two AP classes and also takes pre engineering classes at Meridian Technology Center. Keith is a member of student council, Beta Club and National Honor Society as well. After graduation he says he’ll probably attend Oklahoma State to major in engineering, unless he gets a soccer scholarship he can’t refuse.
