Ponca City’s Preston Lee: Character Counts Presented By Phillips 66
- Updated: February 17, 2020
With wrestling his main focus this year, Ponca City High School’s Preston Lee is competing at 106-pounds in his first year of varsity wrestling.
The underclassman started competing ten years ago at the age of five. Since then, Lee has progressed into one of the bright up-and-coming stars in the Oklahoma.
“We are a young team, mostly freshmen,” said Lee. “We are all learning throughout the year and I expect big things for us in the future.”
Lee loves being on this team and is thankful he has teammates that challenge each other to be successful.
“My fellow teammates challenge me everyday in the wrestling room,” said Lee. “We all work together to be a great team.”
Like in wrestling, Lee pushed himself to do well in the classroom. For Lee, making good grades and eventually getting into college is his primary focus.
“Academics are important to me because they will allow me to excel beyond high school,” said Lee.
As a wrestler, Lee wants to model his wrestling career after a well known wrestler from Oklahoma State University.
“Jacobe Smith has been a big influence in my life,” said Lee. “He has accomplished many things in his wrestling career that I also hope to accomplish.”
The freshman is off to a great start as he continues to improve and push for that trip to the Big House. Look for Lee and his teammates at PoHi to start making waves in Class 6A very soon.
