Cushing’s Gage Hockett: Athlete Spotlight Presented By RCB Bank
- Updated: February 17, 2020
Cushing senior Gage Hockett has been wrestling since he was seven years old, becoming interested in it after hearing a friend talk about it at school. After over a decade competing, he can say that his favorite part of the sport is how it has strengthened his friendships.
“My favorite part about competing for my high school is the bond it has built between my teammates and I,” said Hockett.
Hockett is proud of the work his team is putting in this season. He has goals that he still wants to reach personally, but he is motivated by his desire to be there for his teammates.
“It’s easy to stay motivated on the mat and in the classroom because I don’t want to let my teammates down and not compete,” he said.
Hockett looks up to former OSU wrestler Newly McSpadden as a role model in his sport. After graduating from Cushing High School, Hockett also plans to wrestle on the collegiate level at the University of Wyoming.
