Stillwater’s Lindy Zamborsky: Teacher of the Month Presented By Simmons Bank
- Updated: February 16, 2020
By Travis Sloat
Stillwater High School counselor Lindy Zamborski has distilled 21 years of education service into some simple advice for those just starting their journeys in education.
“I would tell them to take it one day at a time,” Zamborski said. “You have to learn how to not take things personally, don’t sweat the small stuff, and learn to find balance.”
Zamborski was selected as the Teacher of the Month, and credits her successful tenure to loving what she does.
“This is my 16th year Stillwater High School,” she said. “I was previously a school psychologist for Nottoway County Public Schools in Nottoway, Virginia. I love working with students and working in public schools and I have always been a problem solver, so counseling seemed like a natural fit. I like that I have interactions with all kinds of students and that I get to know them during their three years here at SHS.”
In addition to working as the Stillwater High counselor, Zamborski spends a lot of time watching the Stillwater High band.
“My husband, Kevin, is the band director, and both of my children are in the band,” she said. “I also attend SHS activities and athletic events, and I like to read, relax, and spend time with family and friends in my spare time.”
Zamborski said she “lives by where my calendar tells me to be,” and that her family tries not to plan too many things on the weekend so they can spend time together. She said that in ten years, she hopes to be retiring from education and traveling more.
