Stillwater’s Kendra Kilpatrick: Teacher of the Month Presented By Simmons Bank
- Updated: February 13, 2020
Halfway through her ninth year of teaching, Kendra Kilpatrick is honored to be nominated as Teacher of the Month for Stillwater High School. “There are so many great teachers at Stillwater High School and around the state, it is an honor to be nominated,” said Kendra. Kendra currently teaches Advanced Algebra, Algebra 2, and Geometry all to sophomores and Juniors.
Graduating from Medford High School and then continuing on to Mid-America Christian, as well as Oklahoma State, to receive her bachelor’s degree, she then went on to Southwest Oklahoma State for a Masters in Educational Administration.
Math can be a daunting subject for many students, and Kendra says, “seeing a student who has always struggled to learn math have success,” is what inspires her as well as “seeing students light up when they genuinely understand the material.”
“Forming relationships with students and helping them have success inside and outside of the classroom,” Kendra said is her favorite part of teaching. “The students and staff at SHS are amazing and a joy to be around daily.”
In her free time Kendra enjoys spending time with her husband and two year old daughter. They are also expecting their second child this coming April. When she is not teaching at SHS you can find her at the basketball court coaching the girls team. She coached seven years as an assistant and also four years as a head coach, for a total of eleven years.
