Stillwater’s Tanner Nipper – Teacher of the Month Presented by Simmons Bank

The Stillwater Teacher of the Month is Tanner Nipper, an Ag teacher and FFA advisor. Nipper is in his sixth-year teaching, all of them at Stillwater.

“I loved ag and FFA as a kid and showed cattle growing up,” said Nipper, “I just always had a passion for it, when I was in high school my teacher told me that there was a shortage of ag teachers in Oklahoma and it just came natural to me.”

During Nippers time at Stillwater the program has enjoyed a ton of success. He Just returned from California where they were recognized as the top Ag program in region two. National Association of Agricultural Educators. In October they were recognized at the National FFA Convention as one of the ten models of excellence programs. “The thing I enjoy the most is the look on a kids face when they succeed at something, we do a lot outside of the classroom and when we go to contests and they succeed I really just enjoy that look on their face,” said Nipper.

Tanner also takes a lot of pride in his role as an FFA advisor.

“We have 275 FFA members at Stillwater,” said Nipper, “we create opportunities outside of the classroom for those kids to experience agriculture. Every student has to have a Supervised Agricultural Experience, whether that’s speech, or showing or even being a vet, we just help the kids get an opportunity and experience in the field.”

With all of the program’s success Nipper considers himself blessed.

“I’m very fortunate that we have the best kids in the country, I have great teachers around me, and it just highlights the success of the kids and the effort that they put forth,” said Nipper.
