Cushing’s Tamia Mooreland – Character Counts Presented by Cushing Primary Care

Tamia Mooreland is a junior at Cushing High School and a member of the varsity cheer squad. Mooreland loves her role on the team and loves her teammates.
“I love making new friendships,” said Mooreland. “I love how we’re always there for each other.”
Mooreland and the rest of the squad at Cushing are hopeful their team camaraderie will help them in competition. Mooreland is a UCA All-American with several other teammates. For the last six years, Mooreland has worked hard to catch up to other varsity cheerleaders who have more time on the mat and field than she does. But through her hard work and their support, she is now one of the top cheerleaders on the squad.
Away from cheer, Mooreland is involved in several activities at school.
“I am in Student Council, Tomorrow’s Leaders, and Cushing Academic Society,” said Mooreland. “I take school very seriously and I plan on going to the University of Oklahoma or Howard University.
Her favorite subject in school is AP Chemistry and Mooreland loves to be challenged in the classroom. As a sophomore, Mooreland received the Cushing High School Academic Excellence Award and she carries a 4.0 GPA. She’s also a member of National Honor Society.
Mooreland said the biggest influence on her is the coaches who have helped her during her cheer career.
“I would say all of the coaches I have ever had have been major influences on me. Jessica Sigle and Lindsey Knight,” said Moreland.
