Terra Mitchell, a student at Stroud High School, is expecting big things from her senior year. Terra plays shortstop and third base for the Tigers softball fast pitch and slow pitch teams. The team as whole did not meet their expectations last fall in fast pitch. It made them hungry in slow pitch where they were knocked out in a tough regional match up. “We didn’t make it to state but that was a wake up call for us, it humbled us,” says Terra. The Lady Tigers are now 5-0 so far this season.
Academically, Terra is on track to be Valedictorian. She spends the majority of her class time doing concurrent enrollment preparing herself for college. Terra is involved in STUCO and the current senior class vice president. She is the FCCLA president, involved in FCA and a member of the National Honor Society. She also plays guard for the Stroud basketball team.
The group of six seniors on their softball team have been playing tournament softball together since they were ten years old. Spending time with her fellow teammates is what Terra is looking forward to most about her senior year. “With this being our last year together, I feel we are eager and motivated now more than ever. I’m excited to see where we can take this team,” exclaims Terra.
With all of her sports, clubs, and academics Terra doesn’t get a lot of down time, but when she does, she loves to spend time with her friends and family at the lake. She’s especially grateful for her grandma’s influence in her life. “She has always been my biggest supporter. My number one fan on and off the field,” states Terra. “She is always there when I need her. She’s been my shoulder to cry on and the keeper of my secrets. I’ll always be grateful for the bond we have.”
As senior year quickly marches on, Terra plans to attend UCO and pursue a Nursing degree because she wants to impact people’s live and be there to help through tough times.
