The Stillwater Character Counts honor goes to senior cheerleader Eva Cornforth. She is a co-captain for the Stillwater squad for the second year in a row.

“I assist the captain in anyway and help her call cheers. We create the sideline routines and just help lead the squad,” said Cornforth.

Being a co-captain and senior also comes with more leadership responsibility for Eva.

“I do my best to always have a positive attitude. I always try to get to practice early to help the younger girls with questions on cheers or anything going on in their lives, I just want them to know I’m there for them. Also just try to make sure that we get the most we can out of practice,” said Cornforth.

With this Fall being her senior season Cornforth also has big goals for the squad and the Pioneer football team.

“I hope that we win state in football this year after being runner-up last year. I think we’ll be pretty good, but we’ll have to wait and see,” said Cornforth. “For the cheer squad I hope this year that we can advance to the National Semifinals in Disney World. We did during my sophomore year for the first time ever at Stillwater but missed it last year.”

With all her responsibilities, character is something that means a lot to Cornforth.

“Character is the qualities that make you who you are,” said Cornforth, “I try my best to have a lot of integrity, I’m a super hard worker and I’m really passionate about cheer and living life in general. I also have really good time management skills and I just try my best to be kind to everyone”

Cornforth is also a standout in the classroom maintain a 4.0 GPA, while also taking AP courses. After high school she plans to attend Oklahoma State for undergrad then go on to physical therapy school.
