Stillwater’s Delaney Williams – Academic Athlete of the Month Presented by BancFirst Stillwater
- Updated: September 5, 2019
Varsity fastpitch softball player Delaney Williams is the Stillwater Academic Athlete of the Month.
A ten-year veteran of the sport, Williams plays third base which is considered the “hot corner” in softball.
“I enjoy the level of intensity at third base and the opportunity to make several types of plays,” said Williams.
Her teammates and head coach Karie Linsenmeyer are looking forward to another season after going 21-11 a year ago. Despite the team featuring a lot of new faces, Williams has enjoyed the opportunity to bond with her team.
“I love the bond we share on and off the field,” said Williams. “Although our team this year is a little greener than we’ve had in the past few years, I think many people will be surprised at what we will be able to accomplish. One game at a time is how we have to conquer the season.”
As a student-athlete at Stillwater High School, Williams is a member of the Spanish Club. Her academics are always a priority.
“My academics at school are my top priority. I would like to pursue my dream of being a Physical Therapist at Oklahoma State University,” said Williams.
When she’s not on the field or doing homework, you can usually find Williams spending quality time with her friends at the lake and playing with her puppy.
