OFFENSE
An experienced line should lead the way for the Black Bears offense. The running game is definitely a strong point for this pro-style offense. Running back Trevor Mitchell (5-11, 175, Jr.) will continue to be a great asset this season after his 145 carries for 966 yards last year. Quarterback Blake Skidgel (5-9, 170, Jr.) also contributed to picking up yardage, adding 98 carries for 422 yards into the mix. Returning to his role at fullback, Wylee Craig (6-0, 185, Sr.) will look to top his 30 carries for 211 yards from last fall. Two players to watch are powerful tight ends Benjamin Brock (6-0, 185, Jr.) and Kamden Jones (6-4, 210, Jr.). Wide receivers Keenan Cates and Chad Mitchell (5-8, 160, Sr.) are threats in the long pass game.
DEFENSE
Count on linemen Zac Buchanan (6-0, 240, Sr.) and Ryan Ensign (5-10, 250, Sr.), as well as defensive ends Conner Skidgel (6-3, 185, Jr.) and Logan Hargrove (5-11, 180, Sr.) to be a stronghold for the D-line. The Black Bears should be strong at linebacker as well with returning starters Koltyn Brandon (6-0, 210, Sr.), Ben Brock and Wylee Craig. The secondary features plenty of talent with Chad Mitchell, Trevor Mitchell, Jacob Wilson, Jalen Powell, Jake Mitchell, Noah Roberts and Keenan Cates all competing for starting positions. Head coach Russell Cook says this is a great group and is excited to see where the 2019 season takes them.
