Bristow’s Kyren Johnson: North Track Poll Winner – Presented by Law Firm of Boettcher, Devinney, Ingle, & Wicker
- Updated: May 23, 2019
Bristow senior Kyren Johnson’s athletic journey began in elementary school, competing in the Little Olympics. When middle school came around he got a little more serious about running track and began competing for his school in the 4×1, 4×2, 400m, and 4×4.
In addition to running track, Johnson has also played basketball and football for the Bristow Pirates. One of his favorite things about running for his school over the years has been the atmosphere that the Bristow community brings to competitions.
“I love the hype the crowd makes when I run,” he said. “Also, it’s fun to compete with other fast runners to see where you fit in at. It’s a great feeling.”
It was a good year for Bristow track, and Johnson can close the books on a great senior season. He took the state title in the 400m dash in Class 4A, as well as helping his 4×100, 4×200, and 4×400 relay teams succeed and take home titles.
“Our season went according to plan,” he said. “Our coaches pushed us to be great and we also pushed ourselves to better the team.”
Johnson has a lot of love for his family and he strives to be his best to make them proud and be there for them. His motivation to reach high standards comes from his desire to achieve his own greatest potential.
“I’m my own person so I look up to myself to and try to better myself everyday to hopefully be a young one’s role model someday,” he said.
After high school Johnson will continue his football career at the University Of Central Oklahoma.
