A freshman at Stillwater High School, Cayden Brickman has excelled in her short time as a Pioneer.
Brickman, a dual athlete, competes in both cross-country and in the one-mile, two-mile and pole vault for track. She began running competitively after finishing a half-marathon with her parents, and fell in love with running.
Brickman said that she loves to compete because of the rewarding outcome she receives when she strives to work better and reach new goals.
“I enjoy competing because I love to push myself and I love seeing the results of the hours of training I’ve put in these sports,” Brickman said.
Not only has Brickman had a successful debut as a high school athlete, she has also proven herself to be a stand out student as well. She has a 4.0 GPA and is actively involved in her school and community through Beta Club, Business Professionals of America, a church youth group and she was recently accepted for a hospital volunteer program for the upcoming summer. She was also named Student of the Month by the rotary club this year.
Brickman places her education as her top priority and works hard to find a balance between athletics and academics.
“I am motivated in the classroom because I know how important school is and I know how important it is for my future,” Brickman said.
After she finishes high school, she hopes to continue running competitively at Oklahoma State University, where she plans to pursue a degree in the medical field.
