Kendall Burtner is a multi-sport athlete at Blackwell High School competing in football, basketball and baseball. He competes as a slot back in football, guard and forward in basketball and a third baseman and pitcher in baseball.
Having been raised in a sport driven family, Burtner has played all three sports for most of his life. A dedicated and hard-working athlete, he loves the competitiveness that these sports entail.
“I enjoy the challenge that competing brings you,” Burtner said. “Competing pushes you to do the best of your ability, no matter what you’re competing at, so it brings out the best in you.”
He credits his deep connection and love of his sports due to the relationship he has with his fellow teammates.
“My teammates to me are like my family,” Burtner said. “We are constantly pushing each other to be the best that we can be. It’s amazing the bond we form together because you don’t really get that anywhere else in life.”
Burtner is also a strong leader to his fellow students as he is a member of GATS- Gifted and Talented Students, National Honor Society and Student Council. He carries a 3.8 GPA and is ranked eighth in his class at Blackwell.
After graduating next year he is planning on going to college to major in finance or engineering. He would love to continue playing sports at the collegiate level if the opportunity presents itself as well.
