Head coach Mike Allen enters the 2019 season with high hopes of his team turning the corner and seeing the fruits of their hard work in the offseason.
One player who has continually worked to improve his game is sophomore Kealen Glasgow.
“Glasgow has committed himself to being the best he can be on the field and in the classroom. As a freshman last year he started up the middle and pitched on a team that was very young. His confidence never left him and he kept his team positive. He has not missed a workout or practice for a solid year. He has improved himself physically and his work ethic is contagious,” coach Allen said.
Glasgow said what he loves about this team is how they come together as a group.
“The atmosphere and connections everybody on the team has is something special,” said Glasgow. “We are still a young team. Ultimately, I want us to be district champions and eventually win state.”
Baseball has been the sport of choice for Glasgow for as long as he can remember.
“I’ve been playing baseball since I was in diapers. I love this sport and everything about it. My dad has always been a big influence in my life. He has always pushed me to better myself not just as a baseball player but as a young man. He’s my role model and I look up to him,” Glasgow said.
In the classroom, Glasgow has worked hard to become a better student. Academics are a priority for Glasgow and his future.
“Academics are very important to me. Ultimately academics come first. When I graduate I want to go to college and play baseball,” Glasgow said.
The second baseman loves attending school at Cleveland High School and loves representing the Tigers baseball program.
“The best thing about being a student-athlete at CHS is definitely the energy and love that the school gives us. All the sports support each other and bring an atmosphere that is great to play in,” said Glasgow.
In his free time you can find Glasgow playing some type of sport with friends.
“It is always a competition it doesn’t matter who I’m with or what I’m doing.”
